"Fix You"

"Fix You" by Coldplay

When you try your best, but you don't succeed
When you get what you want, but not what you need
When you feel so tired, but you can't sleep
Stuck in reverse

And the tears come streaming down your face
When you lose something you can't replace
When you love someone, but it goes to waste
Could it be worse?

Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you

And high up above or down below
When you're too in love to let it go
But if you never try you'll never know
Just what you're worth

Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you

Tears stream down on your face
When you lose something you cannot replace
Tears stream down on your face
And I...

Tears stream down on your face
I promise you I will learn from my mistakes
Tears stream down on your face
And I...

Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you

Ever lost something that just can't be replaced? I've been there. I've lost many battles in my life.
A promise broken.
A commitment unfulfilled.
An obligation pushed aside.
Trust shattered.
A friendship jeopardized.
And those are just a few.

When you are young, you are invincible. You know everything. Alcohol won't cause bad decisions. Cars don't drive fast enough to kill you. Smoking isn't the cause of throat cancer. Boys don't break hearts and they always respect you. Somewhere along the path, you realize you didn't know it all. Mistake after mistake, tear after tear, you yearn for something truthful. You search for a light at the end of the tunnel. The one that is sure to guide you home.

Despite many cheek-drenching moments in my life, amidst all the despair, all the pain...there has always been a Light. That place where I am accepted unconditionally. Where my latest betrayal didn't matter. Where who I was made to be is more important than who I just pretended to be. It's a Light...that always leads me home...always ignites my bones...always fixes me.
